(l to r) Jay Van De Velde, 1975 Jack Taylor Dave Staub, 1992 Waterford Steven Maas, Carlton George Pitman, Klein Scott Smith, 1967 Raleigh Superbe Sean Smith, Colnago Duall Chuck Schmidt, 1954 Gillott Greg Pitman, 1975 Cuevas Brandon "Monkeylad" Ives (behind the camera, and drove from Santa Barbara to attend)

Theme: English bikes

Sunday can only be described as sparkling with temps in the high 60s and a cloudless blue sky. The ride went without a flat or mechanical and since everyone in the group is on the list the conversation drifted to recent events and eBay outings. At the coffee/ice cream stop at Beantown in Sierra Madre the talk naturally turned to the beautiful day (we had rain the day before) and plans for the upcoming Le Cirque.

Most interesting story of the day: The previous evening Jay's wife asked which bike he was going to ride and he pointed to his new to him '75 Jack Taylor. She exclaimed something to the effect of, "But it is only a frame honey, howya going to ride that?" Jay proceeded to assemble the bike that night and took a short test ride in the morning before showing up at the Rose Bowl with his new Taylor! And no mechanicals during the ride either; nice assembly job Jay!

And then rolling back downhill to the Rose Bowl and a little more checking out the bikes in the parking lot. Always fun with such a congenial group of people. Thanks everyone!

I must note with a little sadness that Phil Brown was busy packing for his move to San Francisco, so wasn't able to attend with his English-style curly stay Phil Brown.
