Subject: [CR]Was: Maillard hubs; Now: query about the bike they came on

Steven and list,

Thanks for the heads-up on the Maillard hubs. I had another question - in this case for my curiosity and for the seller of the wheelset. He removed them from a bike that he had picked up but does not know the make. This might be slightly off-topic - later into the 80s, but here is his description:

"The frame and fork I purchased is an odd one. The whole kit is bolted together. Aluminium - machined, fitted and bolted - not bonded. But it looks like an older Vitus or Alan. The threads are japanese so this strikes out the idea that it's french, although it had a lot of french components on it. There are no markings to tell me who made it but it looked so neat and my instinct told me to get it."

He was also selling an Ideale Norex 39 saddle which came on the bike. He was not sure that all was period correct.

Any ideas?

Paul
