Subject: [CR]My recollections of French bike boom stuff

I worked on bikes in the 80s so the stuff had some age and mileage when it got on my repair stand. It also had been left out in the snow for a few seasons in New England that can be hard on anyone. The brake levers would wobble from side to side - the cables would stick even after you lubed them. The rear spin on wobbled from side to side - the rear deraileur wouldn't wrap the chain very well - the pedals did their own share of wobbling from side to side - I could never get these bikes to work very well - I never thought much of it back then. I don't have fond memories of the low end stuff I always lusted after Campagnolo but could not afford it so I rode on Suntour/SR/Dia compe and it seems to work just fine.
