What happened to Rene Herse (the company) ? I understand that M. Herse died in the early 80s (or was it late 70s?) and that sometime in the mid 80s the shop closed. Was it because no-one was there to carry on ? Did the shop remain open though for a few years after his death ? Did business die off ?

I look at Alex Singer and see that they weathered the death of their founder (as well as Roland Csuka) and the downturn in their business...

I'm just curious why Rene Herse didn't survive. Even with the decline in business that so many shops faced I would've thought with their reputation they would've made it even with a small but dedicated client base.
