I always thought it was interesting that an Italian company, in this case Noli, would use an English name for their product. Their pedal everyone remembers in the 1950s and 1960s was the "Sheffield Sprint".

My only guess as to why this might have been was that the English companies BSA and Chater Lea had the best track stuff early in the past century and had a reputation for premium quality bike parts.

To show you how things change... Barelli was an English pedal manufacturer that chose an Italian sounding name because Italian parts were supreme in the 1970s and 1980s!
