Team,

Foot length should also effect saddle set-back.

A small, for example, 23cm foot, is going to require a significantly more forward saddle position than a large, say 32cm foot, given the same leg length.

How about something like: More Femur length + more foot size = greater setback

Diagrams would sure help here. Think about how much more "forward" your pedals would feel if you feet were 2 inches smaller than they are now, on your own bike. All the angles your legs make would change.

Joe / Grant / e-richie, Grant does sort of address what I was wondering about, in response to your query. The pedaling style thing would seem to have a greater bearing on proper fit than actual size of ones foot? Hey, I am not debating the validity of anything here. If e-richie says size of foot is important I believe it. I am just curious about the intricacies. Richard Rose (Toledo, Ohio)

Grant- Actully, my "foot thought experiment" was directed to Richard Rose as a credible response to his question about frame size. And as I responded to another CR member earlier, "Foot size is often a wash, I guess you could call it a dynamic consideration, because for the same reason the cycler changes hand positions on a ride, he often ankles differently, as in heels first up hills and such." Grant McLean i love it when the threads come together! Toronto.Ca

Joe Asked E-Richie: How 'bout a thought experiment? If you had bigger or smaller feet, what would you change?
