You are correct; it is American made. I'd give it 99% chance of being a Bruce Hecht(?sp) built "Platano" frame. Bruce and a guy named Mike Chiquila(?sp) built them here in San Diego in the early 70's for a while. Many of them have a banana headbadge (platano is Spanish for banana) which I have a spare of (not for sale). Those lugs are probably English but I've never really been able to identify them positivly. I think Haden.
