Subject: [CR]E-bay Prices

Fishing from time to time on Ebay (and having found some rather tasty items to hook from time to time as well) I like to keep a watch on prices for classics. Several fairly rare items have brought low bids (and do not sell if reserved or if the first 'bid' is too high) and others seem to go very high for with real little reason. Generally, and please jump in and correct me if I am wrong on this, but the market seems generally a bit soft right now. Perhaps a reflection of the economy, perhaps a saturated market for bikes, or ??? However, when something really rare or very nice does show up, it either sells quickly, or is pulled off for a side deal. For example, a 73 Masi GC, very nice but iwth some minor wear, started at $700 and was pulled off tonight with the notation "The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale" after reaching $2024.

Any quesses at what it brought in what was no doubt a private sale? Any thoughts on real value? Any thoughts on the current Ebay or general collectors' market prices?

Sorry, tired from a long ride and just wondering, and happy to already have a 76 Masi so I don't feel I missed out on this bike.
