The Prestige was only built by the italian Masi plant. AFAIK it was introduced around 1980 as successor of the Gran Criterium. Dating is pretty easy. The number below the BB indicates the year and month of manufacturing. They are very nice bikes. I like especially the fork crown and seat stay ends. I've got a special "Aero" Prestige with internal cable routing: http://home.t-online.de/home/dirk.feeken/Masi/masi.html

Subject: [CR]masi prestige.

Hi all,

I recently purchased a masi prestige from a gent in san francisco. I did some peeking on the web, and found most info on masi's to be about the carlsbad masi's or the pre-cali masi's. anyone have any info regarding the prestige? As in, when it started appearing? How to date your prestige, and so forth? The one I purchased is from the 70's, the owner didn't know exactly when, but instead of having the brazed on cable guides it has the campy clamp on ones and so forth. When the bike is shipped to me later this week I can figure out specifics such as the serial no. - but does anyone have any background info on this? All I know is that these were produced by alberto, not faliero..

Mahalo (thanks),
