Subject: [CR]drop out screws

snip <I have in the past used the shorter screws from the short drop outs. This allows you to have less of the adjuster sticking out the back of the drop out making it less likely that the screw will get bent.

I have the same arrangement on my 77 Serotta Club Series. I stumbled on to this by accident. I had bent the original Campagnolo ones in the early 80's and could only find a source for the short ones. It didn't make any difference to the dura ace der. that was on there then.

When I converted the bike to all Campagnolo NR seven years ago I able to shift a 14 x 30 freewheel containing 5 cogs and a 10 tooth chain-ring difference.

I always wondered why I could when so many others had trouble.
