When I had 2 bikes and they got a lot of use, I did everything from A to Z on them, ride 50 miles a day to and from work each day, long weekend rides through rain and snow if needed...........42t rings did wear out in about 2 years time, 52 not so bad. At a later date I changed the position of the inner ring to get more life out of them.
BTW: I don't think these rings will become unotainable within our life time! 42-52t, maybe so, 43 and 53t.............Lots to be had. BTW: Take a look @ the rings that bicycles classics has in stock, 43 and 53t rings @ $ 44.- a pop. Where do you think they originally came from, the gang @ Renaissance cycles of course. Mario G got about 600 of these NR rings from us before the fire of '2000, all toll about 800 plus rings. And now they are at BCs. They were had before the fire of '2000.
With that said, 42t and 52T rings can be had as well, I do know of a nice stash just waiting to be had. But they will not be showing up anytime soon, maybe 6 to 8 months is when I'll be seeing them...................These deals tends to take a little time from start to finish. When I do get them I'll be letting the list know, OF COURSE THE PRICE MIGHT NOT BE LOOKING SO PRETTY! Till then you all have a great day.
