Hugh dominated professional pursuiting from 1968 to 1973. The fabulous Fausto Coppi may have won the pursuit a couple of times, Guido Messina and Roger Riverie were both three time winners, but Hugh Porter has four rainbow jerseys to his credit. Porter's winning streak started off at the Rome Worlds in 1968, where he defeated world hour record holder Ole Ritter in the final. Title number two came at Leicester in 1970, followed by wins at Marseilles in 1972 and San Sebastian in 1973. He also collected two pro silvers and a bronze in his career. He never won the amateur title or went for the hour record.

Be lucky Mick Butler Huntingdon UK.
