Subject: [CR]Kirk Pacenti tooling donations

Hey gang,

I was just browsing Kirk Pacenti's web site and I noticed that he has a link on the bottom of his "products" page where you can make a donation via PayPal to help him defray the cost of tooling (molds). http://www.bikelugs.com/pacentiproducts.html. You guys probably know that Kirk lost his day job at Litespeed/Merlin/Tomac/Quintana-Roo.

Kirk had to lay out a ton of money to "tool up" to make his fabulous lugs available. He is trying to make his frame building supply business into a full time gig. It occurs to me that perhaps he is struggling...

Kirk has provided the traditional frame building community with a lug set, crown and bottom bracket that are a virtual blank canvas. If you don't know what I'm talking about take a look at his "gallery" page. http://www.bikelugs.com/pacentigallery/index.html

This project strikes me as more altruism then capitalism. Maybe we should consider "passing the hat" in the interest of keeping the art of lugs alive. Just a thought. Jamie Swan - Northport, N.Y.
