Neat story! Too bad the seller felt the need to pad the description. That bike, all by itself, with no special provenance, is very cool. My understanding is that there were *very* few of these Colnago/Merckx-badged frames distributed. I have a brochure that features the road-bike version of this frame, and it's a super-cool bike. A Colnago-made frame, called the *Eddie Merckx Corsa" with understated pantographed parts, molteni orange, and all the early Merckx graphics. I'd love to find one. But I have yet to see a single one in the flesh, let alone one in my size.
The track bike on ebay is very collectable, in my view, although Merckx probably never got within a mile of it. I'm just glad it's not my size, otherwise I'd just have to win it. ;>
