Hi Mike,

The two older Cinelli on Carsten Rehbein's web site: Cinelli 1960 #7814 Cinelli 1962 #174

Both have the "Mod.S.C." decal on the seat tube. No where does it say on the frame "Super Corsa". It does say Super Corsa in Carsten's title _he_ has given his bikes.

None of the Cinelli catalogs list both Speciale and Super together.

Take a look at Mark Petry's Cinelli serial number registry and see where Cinelli 1962 #174 fits in: http://www.petry.org/markp/cinolog.htm

Switching gears for a moment, there is a '54 Masi "Speciale Corsa" with that spelled out on the down tube on Alex Clarke's Vintage Velos website: http://www.vintagevelos.com/images/masi54-decal.jpg And then the Masi "Special" from the sixties.

But the Cinelli seat tube decal always is abbreviated "S.C." so what does it stand for? My belief is that "S.C." was originally Speciale Corsa and then the bike was renamed Super Corsa in the early 70s but still used the same "Mod.S.C." decal on the seat tube.

Witness the late 60s intro of Universal _Super_ 68 brakes in response to Campagnolo's side pull brake (1968), and the early mid-70s intro of _Super_ Record group.

Times change and certain words become the vogue.
