     I can't say for certain, but it sounds as if the web page included a link which invoked the notorious QHOST "trojan horse". Do a web search on QHOST for details. The only concern you might have is whether the Web pages ostensibly devoted to removing and/or describing the QHOST trojan are in fact ruses which install the virus on your PC.
     Suffice it to say, the last few days have been an education for me.
