Had a nice chance to view a wonderful bike collection at the small museum named above. It is located in a very small restored Victorian railroad station. There is a Bottechia ridden by Greg LeMond in the '89 TDF. It is equipped with a full Mavic group. I had never had the chance to look closely at one before and was amazed at how smoothly it worked. There were a couple of bikes from Doug Fattic's own collection, he lives nearby. The most interesting for me, though, was an 1899 Columbia Chainless. It was fitted with a differential, way back then. In fact, a similar bike in 1896 set a World Record of 534 miles in 24 hours (22.5 mph) with a French team alternating riders for the 24 hours. This is pretty darn close to the 27 mph average for the most recent TDF, which I believe was a record! Those guys must have been Iron Men! Humbled in Lansing, Mi Tom Sanders
