Great Idea...Why didn't I think of that?

Several things come to mind....

1/ Be sure to use a mordant like an alum solution before diping the tape in the dye. The color will take better & last longer especially if you don't shellac the wrap.

2/ There will likely be shrinkage in length and width but perhaps the tape will be thicker...?

3/ Has anyone tried tie-dieing tape?

Just take cloth tape (ie Tressostar) and dye it per directions.. I have not tried this yet, but Aldo Ross says it works great and I am pleasantly surprised by the results... Who knows? maybe you could make custom colors by mixing dyes!
