Plans for the December ride are underway.

Time: 11:00AM December 14th

Place: See below

Bob & I are working on the final details and will report back with maps and a meeting place. I will also arrange for a common meeting place in Atlanta so we can car pool and / or caravan to Columbus.

I think this will make for a great informal / fun holiday event.

Put it on your 'MUST DO' schedule for the holidays.

See Ya There !!!! Nick Zatezalo Atlanta,Ga

Nick;

I've got the perfect spot... a 22 mile round trip, a bike/pedestrian path called the Riverwalk that starts in downtown Columbus and snakes along the Chattahoochee River to Fort Benning. It stays within sight of the river for a good deal of the journey, then cuts thru a reclaimed wetlands area with nesting areas for ducks and other waterfowl, skirts a golf course, past a nature learning center, then on to the Fort Benning Reservation (still a path, no automobile traffic) and ends at the National Infantry Museum. It was 13 miles one way, but renovation of the Columbus Ironworks at the downtown end has clipped nearly two miles off the trip so it's temporarily down to 11 miles, but still a nice pedal.

With the present Columbus Ironworks construction, a ride could be started at the Columbus Civic Center instead which has plenty of parking (or the Space Science Center which would make a slightly longer ride but there is less parking there), and after the trip, a short 6 block ride thru the Historic District would get you to our downtown Broadway area which sports some nice coffee chops and so forth.

I don't know if the Riverwalk is featured in a website anywhere by photos or map but I'll look around and send you anything I find.

Best wishes,
Bob Hovey
