I've had a remarkable good experience with the eBay buyer protection. I bought a pair of NOS Nuovo Record hubs this summer and got Tipos that were modified to look like Record hubs (added oil clip and Record skewer nuts). The seller didn't respond to eMails and I sent tons of paper (detailed pictures of the modified Tipos next to real Records, copies of Campagnolo catalogue pictures, copies of ended Tipo and Record hub auctions, lengthy descriptions, etc) to eBay without real hope to get my money back. Who at eBay is qualified to distinguish between two almost identical looking types of 25 year old bicycle hubs of the same brand? It took almost 3 month, but then I got the money back from eBay (except 20EUR but I could keep the Tipos).
