------------- It's funny, but my initial reaction on seeing the Campy triple in the early 70s was "I could do that...This is so amateurish." Referring, of course, to just drilling and tapping the arms to mount the inner ring on offset bushings.

Then, 30 years of decline later, I got a Paramount P-15 from a friend, its original owner. It has one of those, except that the Campy 36 was replaced with an unmarked after-market 32. At my advanced age (59) in fairly hilly country in Northern Virginia, this is a nice rig. I'm using it with a 46-50 front, and a 14 - 28 or so 5-speed block, giving a nice half-step + granny rig. Would I want lower gears for real cycle-touring, or riding in Larry's neck of the woods? Of course. But, for the kind of riding it was built to do (centuries and stuff), it has surprised me as a nice combination. And, a Campy Record front shifts it just fine.
