That was me that wrote that one. I'm not sure where I got the impression about Italians and bridge, but I've sort of believed that explaination for why the Italians used all of the card suits somewhat commonly. It may have come from the Bianchi Pokkerissimo thing. Obviously I don't know the first thing about bridge. I wonder why he chose the club? The spade was available, Mario was probably still in diapers back then. I'm sure there is a reason for it. Maybe he likes flowers! ;-)

If he is a bridge enthusiast, he wouldn't likely have chosen clubs as they are the weakest of all possible suits in bridge. In bidding you would need 2 clubs to outdo one of any other suit.
