Modern paints have to meet government standards for what can go into the air this is really true in CA. The manufacturers have to meet an amount for their products this formula is based on adding the primers, base, and clear. We really don't use single stage much in CA anymore. They change the primers constantly trying to keep the others within compliance. Would you want to be a painter who has to use a new product every few months. I can tell you from experience what works on a car doesn't always work on a bike. Products that I loved and worked great can't be purchased anymore. Others that I have tried peel off or don't work well on a bike for other reasons. Adhesion is the biggest problem I have had on bikes. If you find someone who can do a good job (and I have seen some awsome stuff from out here in San Diego from all three of the CR list members) be thankful they can do it. If you can do better my hat is off to you. I have been painting since the 1980s and can't do as well as they do. You know who you are and you are artists in my eyes keep it up anyone who wants to talk paint off list so that you can do it yourself I have time and will talk prep, paint and how to do custom work until you get sick of it.
