"White Turps" obviously refers to a root vegetable, the white turnip, raised in the same way as German asparagus, where the tender stalk is covered in dirt as it grows, producing a white, tender vegetable called "spargel", which is ultra tasty. On rides in Germany you can often see farm fields full of odd mounded rows, under which the spargel is growing. I didn't realize that the turnip version had solvent qualities too.

CR content: Used to stop off during rides on my Trek 720 for a refreshing snack of spargel suppe, und ein pils, bitte.

Tom Adams, Shrewsbury NJ, with not a stalk of spargel to be found.

Remove excess varnish with white turps using cotton wool and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Leave for 48 hours. To protect and seal transfers they should then be covered over with a clear lacquer."
