Our family shop in Anaheim ,Ca sold Puch Bergmeisters and Steyr Clubman;s, Kapo's with Assman leather saddles fitted as stock in 1961-1963. In fall of 1963, Steyr came out with a plastic (rubber?) covered padded saddle to replace the Assman. There were a lot of jokes about the saddles but they were well made, though not quite as well made or finished as a Brooks or Ideale. On another note, I have a Campagnolo Model stamped Brooks saddle with narrow rails stamped '59" on the black metal frame. It came to me in 1969 on an Olmo which I didn't have the forethought to keep. The saddle, however, was uncommon even then and I kept it. I loaned it to Joe Breeze to use for his cross country record tandem record attempt in 1976 with Otis Guy.
