Mike,

I will contribute to your Cinelli exhibit. I have the PERFECT Cinelli for the occassion! I'll send out my early 70's Cinelli track sprint bike (49cm c-t) with my special gear combination on it. Currently it hangs in my living room. It sports my all time favorite chainring from my "big chainring" collection. It's 66 tooth (151 BCD) track ring, still new and unridden. I installed a Campagnolo 12T cog in the rear, resulting in 148.5 gear inches. Sweet. I'll make sure the tires are good and we can all see who can draft a truck down the highway at 60mph. The bike will travel nearly 40 feet per revolution of the 170mm track crank arms.

If anyone has a bigger gear, I want to see it. Maybe I'll send Pergolizzi out on this bike and see if he can make a panic stop when some Bozo in a Buick pulls out in front of him. I suspect we would see the first human launched into orbit via bicycle. This bike was slightly modified by the previous owner to accept brakes, but there will be no brakes on this puppy. We could make the Guiness Book! What do you think, John? I can arrange an astrouants helmet you can wear.

Brian Baylis La Mesa, CA Someday I might have to dig up a small Cinelli road bike. 60's preferred.

Hi CR folks,

Its Mike Kone here in Colorado - and I bounced the following idea off Dale and he thought it would be great - lets have a dedicated Cinelli area at the Cirque and get a fantastic array of Cinelli bikes and bits together to celebrate the show's Italian theme in style!

The idea would be to have a comprehensive display of bikes from a wide variety of years. For those who want to help out, by coordinating who brings what we might be able to make the display more comprehensive.

To pull this off, I'd like to be sure that we can acheive a critical mass to make it really special. So, to all CR folks - if you can bring a Cinelli to the show please email me off list at bikevint@comcast.net and I'll put together a list. Between myself and some other Colorado folks I think we can account for 5 - 8 Cinelli bikes.

What we need most at the show are early examples of road bikes - I think that mid 50's track bikes are covered. Also, examples of Cinelli bikes with original fenders and/or Cinelli upright bars are really needed. If anyone has a bike like the red one that sold on ebay a while back thats what we need! A nice example of a Riviera would also be nice also.

Cinelli made a tremendous array of bars and stems, many for upright bikes and some with integrated brake levers - a display of this on thier own would be pretty nifty.

I'd like to start the exhibit at the begining - anyone have a 1948 Cinelli? and take it through the mid 90's ( I have the 1994 Cinelli that was in Bicycle Guide - might be a nice end point).

If anyone is a super wiz regarding Cinelli bikes and bits, then their expert help, assistance - or willingness to coordinate this instead of me would be fine - otherwise I'll do my best to coordinate this myself and call upon those that know more than myself for assistance.

My hope is that we can get over 20 Cinelli bikes together for this.

Thanks in advance for everyones help. If we get some interest in this, than I'll devote some time to making this a really special display.
