Dennis,

I'm very biased on this, but when I rode in the mid-sixties, the Unicanitor bare black plastic saddle was very popular in the US. I have four of them today--one on a '63 Frejus track bike, one on a '75 Paramount track bike, one on a '72 Paramount road bike, and one on a '78 Raleigh Super Course fixed gear conversion. The road version is a little wider than the track model and has extra ventilation holes. I like the appearance of the Unicanitors, their durability, and I find them surprisingly comfortable. You can still find them frequently on eBay and new track saddles are available for $88 from American Cyclery at http://americancyclery.com/ .
