Subject: [CR]Identify this Raleigh-Carlton?

Can anyone ID this Raleigh-Carlton? Rescued from a garage sale. Dirty, grimey from years of disuse. May be too tall. But, like one of Cinderella's step-sisters... Thanks Richard Cielec Chicago, Illinois

S/N U6815; stamped into left side rear drop-out Raleigh heron head badge, silk screen on soft metal (aluminum?). Looks like this from the Old School Carlton site http://groups.msn.com/OldSchoolCycles/late60scarltoninternational.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=99

Raleigh heron decal on seat tube. "Carlton" on down tube as if that is the model name. Scant remant of decal on fork blades which may have said Carlton. 531 Butted Main Tubes decal on seat tube.

Ten speed touring model (2 x 5 cog rear). Upright bars, Brooks B72, Williams cottered steel crank. BB shell has grease fitting in 6 O' clock position. Shortie fenders, possibly stainless steel (no rust). Normandy Hubs, qr, on Weinmann clincher 27 inches. (I don't recall name of Weinmann - arched center with dimples at spoke holes.)

Ubiquitous plastic Simplex rear and front ders. Rear der. is black plastic. Front der. clamp and dt shift levers are white plastic.

Seat stays very plain. Wrap around seat cluster like a hairpin. Only chrome is typical Raleigh @ 3/4 of fork blades.

Head lugs like these though not chrome. Again, from the Old School Carlton site. http://groups.msn.com/OldSchoolCycles/mid50scarltoncorsastrada.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=70
