Subject: [CR]Dave Moulton Frame/Fork

Angel,

When I ordered my Fuso Luxe in 1992, Dave Moulton advised that he only worked with Reynolds, Columbus, and Tange tubing. While he did not recommend one over another, my impression was that he preferred Columbus. I chose Columbus TSX and have never looked back. Dave built a wonderful bike for me.

Dave Moulton is one of the most sincere and humble gentleman I have ever encountered.

Thanks for those that replied to my inquiry about Dave Moulton. Encouraged by those comments and the CR webpage I drove to NY today to look at a Dave Moulton frame and fork which I then purchased. Some details about it: a) dave moulton (lower case) on down tube both sides, b) head tube and seat tube have a tic-tac-toe logo design with Worcester, England underneath, c) right under the seat tube lug it says, "Frame Guaranteed Handcrafted By Dave Moulton in California USA", d) signed Dave Moulton on top tube, e) dave moulton engraved on non-driveside BB, f) "special PRO CRITERIUM" on left chain stay, f) both head tube lugs are chromed, g) top tube cabling is via internal routing with both openings having chromed fittings that look like arrowheads, h) flat crown fork, the crown is chromed with tic-tac-toe logos, i) the chain stays are fluted and chromed, j) the tiniest pump peg I've even seen, looks like small pin, k) brake bridge is chromed, l) campy dropouts, m) Campagnolo blue diamond shaped 50th anniversary 1933-1983 sticker on downtube (owner said it was equipped with 50th anniv. components but he sold them off some time ago), n) color is a metallic eggplant-ish color which changes in light; some scratches on the bike and I think that color would be be hard to match, o) ser. no. 9832.

Beautiful workmanship. No indication of tube make. The frame looks really strong; the seat stays are really beefy. Best of all, my size!

I've learned a lot here on the CR list since joining and it encouraged to go out and buy this (which I think was a great deal). Thanks all!
