No Steve, the left (outside pedal) should be the forward one ON THE ROAD with the crown going up to the left and the front wheel to the left. It doesn't work very well the other way; it's bass ackwards. No wonder your feeling so convoluted . It's much easier my way. But by all means , do it your way in N.C. I'll bring the "Ben Gay" for when ya cramp up. Well, I will need to borrow a fixed(not nearly as much fun on a road bike). My record is 45 minutes. But that was long ago, so don't get scared off.
