Subject: [CR]Gios Aerodynamic update

well I just received my gios aerodynamic from germany a couple days ago. it looks straight, no dents but a few more 'bald spots', and 'comb-overs' using unmatched touch-up paint, then what I was anticipating. but all-in-all it looks to be in fine shape.

since i couldn't find much about this frame online, i decided to contact gios. and perhaps one of the reasons I can't find much info might have to do with its limited run. According to Alfredo, they only made 200 aerodynamics from 1981-1982. They were also supposed to be "more light" compared to the super records and professional.

so now my quest begins with collecting what i need to put it together. i'm hoping to get it refinished before parts go on. I'll probably go through the archives to see what places do this. The only place with brand recognition for me is Cyclart.

I'm still undecided on whether to: get period parts - because it seems 'right' - but i don't know where i get that from other then it would be 'cool' to have a bike that has period parts. or maybe it's like an older person trying to be hip but it's just not working and maybe they should stick to what's original for them.

"modernize" it - because that's what i'm more familiar with

mix and match - try and find the best of both worlds - like if modern brakes work better now, i might like that option but it would be nice to get a panto'd chainring that is most likely not compatible with today's modern drivetrains. and what about derailleurs? SR or mid-lo range modern campy? whatever's less costly?

what are the group's thoughts on this subject? if you had this bike what would you do?

Thanks for your help.
