The Campy monoplanar brake appeared in 1988 as part of the very first Chorus group. Besides the unusual "split arm" design, it had lower caliper arms with a thicker cross section running front-to-back, a design much more resistant to flex than conventional brakes. The other significant component in this group was Campagnolo's first slant-parallelogram rear derailleur (which had the added bonus of an adjustable body to match the angle of different freewheels). The group is not within the CR time frame, but certainly a significant point in Campy's history and an absolutely beautiful group in overall appearance... A worthy alternative to C-Record for use on a late-80's KOF (whew, I hope that's close enough for Dale...)
