Richard, Chainstay length is measured center of bottom bracket axle to center of hub axle, and if the dropout slot is three miles long then position the wheel at the 1.5 mile distance and measure there. Of course, with vertical drops there's no guesstimate as there is with long horizontals. And yeah, it makes a wee bit of difference measured along the frame's central plane versus along the actual stay, but oh well, consider that factor an invitation to work up some trig'... Starck, Joe
