Dear CR lister, while checking our master list of all the mailing lists you are a member of, it has become evident that you have accumulated far too many memberships.
We therefore are compelled to suspend your memberships of two of them, one being the present CR list, until you have fully complied to one or two minor details listed below. You will be notified separately by the other listmaster.
However, If you would like to continue your membership of CR, you need to give the following data immediately and without second thought.
A List all frame numbers of cycles older than 21 yrs. in your possession. Please state where the numbers are to be found on the frame for easier checking. We will possibly come round to your garage tomorrow night between five and six. Data gleaned from Thanet Silverlight, Paris Galibier, Hetchins Magnum Opus and / or Gillott Fleur de Lys frames should be entered red to simplify identification.
B Please state in alphabetical order the first and second names of all people you have been cycling with over a period of, say, the last 15 yrs. You may omit people on cycles less than 21 yrs. old, those who have accompanied you for less than 10 miles, or those your wife/husband must not know about.
C You should also tell us the number of spokes in the wheel you built last. The figure should be exact down to roughly one or two. We know your standards in these things, so we feel we can give you a little leeway here.
D Only where applicable (however, apply liberally to insure continued CR membership): Please send any cycles and components by the following marques to the address given below post free: Campagnolo, Singer, Herse, Pogliaghi, Guerciotti. No need for any Masis at the moment; the dude we phished last week has sent some already.
E Do your swear an oath never to own a cycle less than 21 yrs. old? Simply tick O yes or O no.
As you have ticked "Oh no!!" in the last question, we are sorry to inform you about the immediate cancellation of your CR membership.
