On Maillard hubs English threading is usually indicated by a groove on the shoulder on which the freewheel rests. French threaded hubs don't have this groove. By the way, this way of marking threaded parts is also used by Stronglight: English threaded headsets have a grooved adjustable cup and locknut. English BB lockrings have one groove while the righthand cup has two (instead of one for french or three for swiss threading).
