Just a few lines about Chuck's Falcon-built Merckx. I used to trade with Falcon quite a lot in the70 and 80s because they were quite close to hand, had great offers on parts, and provided bikes on consignment. I had quite a few Merckx bikes through my shop from them but never anything special - just sports bikes. Mostly they were finished in the Merckx yellow Molteni finish or a ghastly "fluid" silver reminiscent of cheap German machines. What I remeber the best is that the head tube and lugs appeared to be made in one component - I think some Italian component suppliers had such things available as did some Japanese manufacturers. The rear drop-outs were pressed plate - huge thungs, and the seat stays were if an odd section with domed top-eyes.. The frames looked the part from a distance, but were plenty poor close up. Another European manufacurer Dangre-Starnord / Paris- Sport also had a concession from Merckx and shipped some stuff to the States. these again were sports type machines, but much more French looking than the Falcon products. I dont think for a minute that falcon built the frames I sold. I hope that your's isn't one of them
