Subject: [CR]What every happened to Jim Hurd

Way back in my earlier collecting days I read a few books by Jim and was even lucky enough to meet him during one visit to Chicago at the Schwinn Museum. It was called the Bicycle Museum of America at the time. I remember fondly the disucssions I had with him on the Paramount with the huge chain ring that broke the land speed record at the time for a bicycle. I got to see the bike that is now in the new BMA over in Ohio. He seemed to be a kind gentleman who was generous but did tell pretty wild stories about the old Schwinn company. I believe he lost the museum due to a litigation with Schwinn. Since they auctioned off all of the contents I have never heard of him again. He was a wealth of knowledge. Not only the Paramount but I saw my first Alenax road bike there along with several real old road bikes sprinkled among the other types.
