Some bike message boards frown on outing of bikes whether ebay or local Craig's List unless its by the seller. Since this practice has become more common on this list, I assume most think this is ok. I don't have a problem with it for ebay since its being presented to a worldwide audience and the chances any one person will win the bid is remote. However, it does irk me when it comes to Craig's List. As I live in a medium-sized city, there are only a few local bike addicts (like me) who regularly prowl my local CL. Suddenly, some "helpful" lister announces to this ravenous pack of wolves that some dolt from Sacramento is selling a '65 Herse for 300 bucks! Know what I mean?
