Okay here's the deal... we take your example of a late '80s Masi made in San Marcos California lugged steel frame and put on more modern equipment... say carbon ergo Campagnolo 20 speed stuff (hey, I like current stuff too) just as an example of course.
Strikes me as more than a little silly, but then again, that's just me.
