I can't speak for the "serious" collector since my stable is a meager 3.5 on topic (barely) bikes. I don't have the history, nor the luck to have worked at a bike shop and collected parts along the way. I don't have drawers full of campy equiptment, heck I don't even have a boxful of campy equiptment. I am one of those who is guilty of supporting the market because I want my bikes to be period correct. Sure I could put almost modern Ergo shifting (8 speed isn't all that bad) on an 83 Trek 770 that I'm slowly building, but something about that just doesn't sit well with me. So, I have little choice but to watch e-bay and squirrel away 83 super record components. That said, if someone is willing to part with an 83 Super Record Gruppo for e-bay bargain basement prices I'd be happy to stop supporting e-buy.

Phil, You're triodes in a modern system are ok, as long as your source isn't bad digital . . .
