DeRosa started working in the bicycle business at age 16 under the brother's Volta in Milan. He opened his first bicycle store in 1952 at age 18 in Milan and then in 1956 moved to Brianza on the outskirts of Milan. His first bikes were built and sold locally.
Like Confente, by the age of 26 he was a veteran builder.
