Jay, I have not used the San Rensho nylon straps but I have used nylon straps from Campagnolo and Christophe. In both of those cases the straps were as strong as laminated leather - perhaps stronger. But in both cases, the straps were seriously lacking in romance (in the truest sense of the word) which renders them less desireable for classic bikes than leather straps. By the way, I mean that sincerely - romance/passion/emotion is a large component of what classic bikes are all about. I should mention that I've never had a serious problem with any straps stretching, irrespective of the material. For me, the buckles slide under duress long before the strap material stretches. Then again, I'm a 126 pound weakling (that's 9 stones or 57 kilos for those of you outside the USA) so I don't stress the straps the same way a professional track racer might. Best regards, Fred Rednor - treading lightly in Arlington, Virginia
