In a message dated 1/23/2005 6:14:02 AM Pacific Standard Time, Don Gillies writes: In fact every detail of this Carlton flyer bike suggests a 1966 model. The bike has a steel record derailleur, cable stop on front derailleur, 151 bcd crankset w/o lip, campy headset w/o <C>, dropouts w/hole for gransport, and it appears the bike is all original. The bike even has clarks cables, white ribbed raleigh tape, and milremo star bar plugs and a period brooks pro seat. The Weinmann brakes are unusual and must fit somewhere between 1962 and 1971/2.

Does anyone else have some mid 1960's "No Record" Campy hubs ?? ____________________________________________________________ Don,

My 1963 Carlton Flyer has "no Record" hubs with 1963 locknuts. To support the dating (along with buying it from the original owner, who told me he purchased it in 1964), the Weinmann brakes are stamped "63" below the "610" on the back of the arms. They have the red sticker with "Vanquier 999" on it.

I also have an earlier pair of Weinmann brakes (c. 1960) with the stamped logo, but these do not have the stamp on the back of the arms.
