"Normal reach" these days is 39-49 mm. Some people who are more familiar with older bikes than current models use the term "normal reach" to mean something else, generally 47-57 mm.

Since "normal reach" has two contradictory meanings, it has become, in effect a _meaningless_ term. Using it only causes confusion.

In discussing brake reach, adjectives are basically useless. Much better to use actual numbers.

If you're looking to buy brakes, measure the reach on your frame and post _that_ information.
