Subject: [CR]'05 Monson swap meet report

Attended my second Monson swap meet this weekend, in the company of Dave Neuhaus and Ray (Ironbutt) Hominski. We left at 0400 in Ray's van, and Ray drove every mile of the way, up and back (a 2.5hour one way trip). Hats off to you, Ray.

Monson is always a smaller meet, and the dicey weather probably cut down on the attendance. Besides Dave, Ray and myself, the only other CR reg. I saw was Maurice Bresnahan, who had some great stuff for sale. I probably ended up being his best customer (nos Cinelli #3 Unicanitor, two bottle cages, pair of nice gran compe levers, and I'm still kicking myself for letting the NOS Nisi rims go by). There were plenty of interesting things to look at though, includiding several old track machines. A nice Paramount with inch pitch drivetrain was there, a mystery bike with a maltese cross style headbadge that looked home made, and Ken Denny brought out a lovely Ephgrave #1 track machine.

There were some good buys, including a old logo NOS Cinelli stem for $25, a pair of NOS 1st gen Dura Ace hubs for $50, 28 spoke FIR silver tubie rims for $10 each and some Super Record 52 tooth rings NOS for $45. I only picked up the stem, and a Mavic Starfish triple crank for $45 (anyone know what length spindle this takes?) to go with the items I bought from Maurice. Most of the booths were selling Stingray and Balloon tire stuff, but there was a nice scattering of lightweights.

Anyway, here are some pics for your viewing pleasure. Not the biggest Monson I've been to, but still worth it. If only it didn't start at 0700!
