My thanks to all who have replied. The vote is about 2 to 1 to not use the bars. Some more details..the bars are not factory drilled. The drill job was done by the PO and they are chamfered. Bike was raced and I figure the PO hammered the bars pretty good. They might stand up just fine to my much more sedate riding.

But you know, I had a bike accident when I was in college. Several hours in the emergency room picking gravel out of my face and stitching it up. Not to mention being unable to use my hands due to major road rash for a week or so. I am over 50 now. I think I will get some new bars.
