Subject: [CR]Dating a nuevo record rear derailleur.

I have read two different dates as the introduction of the nuevo record following the bronze body records: one source say 1968 and the other one 1966 or 65 sorry memory has skippings here..

my bike has one nuevo record that has no dating..I've read that post 70s units have the two last digits of their manuf. date, wich are circled and stamped on top .On mine all I can see on top is :"patent" period ,no date. Are there any details making difference among those derailleurs (the undated ones) or were they sharing exact similitudes and cosequently there is no way to determine a 65-66-67-68 etc (assuming it started in 65)

Is it known for sure exactly when was introduced the "record" replacement and when this took place? I tend to believe that my nuevo record was right at the beginning on my bike and I have indications that the same bike was used in races here in québec in summer 1965,but it could have been very well be "brand new" then hence the derailleur would also be a 1965 making it the very first year the nuevo ever produced..making sense?

thanks to all comments,
