Just a reminder that we're a week away from the inaugural '05 Jersey Shore CR ride, 20 March at 10:30 a.m. from Seven President's Park in Long Branch NJ. Details, route info and directions are below in the earlier message. The route recon yesterday revealed 99% snow melt-age on the bike path in the park, and even better, the path has been completed all the way into Fort Hancock. This includes the unpaved sections out in the middle of the woods, so no more cyclorcross moves will be required. The entire route is good to go and the only obstacle was the occasional puddle.

The long range weather forcast for Sunday is favorable: partly cloudy with highs in the 40's. Perhaps we're finally beating the weather jinx here on the east coast.

We already have a good group of the Friday Nite Beer Nite Scotch Plains gang promising to come, so we're looking for some of the BVVM and Philly folks to round out the peleton. And of course Constitution and eastern Keystone staters are also welcome. Please do join us for what looks like a good day of riding and comraderie. And someone bring a camera and post pics, as I always forget.

Please join us on March 20 at 7 Presidents Oceanfront Park in Long Branch New Jersey at 10:30 am for a 22 mile ride to the Sandy Hook lighthouse and back. The roads should be mostly traffic free at that time of the day, and the temperature should have reached a reasonable degree. The route is the same as last year, a straight out and back along the Atlantic ocean, exceptionally flat except for a highway overpass type climb at the Sandy Hook park entrance. Fixed gear ideal, excellent to reasonable shoulders to ride on the entire way and almost impossible to get lost (well Paul Brodek did miss us when he started 10 minutes after we left, but how was he to know there were two paths into and out of Sandy Hook?).

7 President's park is reached via exit 105 off the Garden State parkway, then east on Highway 36 about 7 miles till you run into the Park and the Ocean. Please note there are numerous lights on Hwy 36 so you should allow at least 20 minutes to cover the last 7 miles. If you're running a bit late, call my cell at (816) 838-9721.

Park info and more directions to the start are available at: http://www.monmouthcountyparks.com/parks/seven_pres.asp

Pre and post ride swapping is encouraged. Lunch for those who wish it will be at a local restaurant (many to choose from). Guests who wish to visit Casa Adams and view the Bike Dungeon will be accomodated after lunch.

Hope to see you there.
