I have a Trek 610 (1984) which also came with 27" clinchers and the Helicomatic. I put on a set of 700c clincher wheels with Mavic MA-40 rims, and all I had to do was move the brake shoes down to the bottom of their slots. I kept the Helocomatic for some project to come. It's just a hub, at the end of the day.

If my Mavic MA-40 wheels fit, you should even be able to go to tubulars. I test fitted my tubie wheels back when, and I only had to reset the derailleur travel limits to make it all work right.

BTW, Andy Muzi of Yellow Jersey Cycles advertises that he has some parts for the Helico system.

Tire selection is also a consideration. I may just rebuild the wheel, but all things told I think I'd be better switching unless there's more to it then brake adjustment.

\r?\n> You'll have to lower your brake pads about 4mm to reach the 700c rim.

\r?\n> Depending on the calipers this may or may not be possible. Why not
