Reg Harris raced in 1966 in Copenhagen against some of his old adversaries including Jan Dersken. He also rode the 1971 British championships at Salford Park. He pissed the heats then came up against the World Champion Geordie Johnson (Australian) who was sponsored by Raleigh. Reg beat him in the first heat but lost the next two. Geordie went onto meet Reg Barnett in the final and the Aussie triumphed. Reg Barnett had beaten Trevor Bull in the other semi so the bronze medal ride was between Reg Harris and Trevor Bull. Reg Harris got the bronze medal. What has not been said was that in 1971 Reg Harris was very modest about his chances when speaking to the media but when speaking in 74 he was positively bullish saying that Trevor Bull was the only decent British sprinter and he thought he might just beat him. which he did. He also rode the 75 Championship where he lost to Trevor Bull again in the final. Many thought Trevor should have been disqualified for taking Reg out in the first heat. The officials only gave a re-run. Norris where exactly was Barry Chick's shop? I was in and out of Alan Shorter's all the time during this period and never saw a Chick in Shorter-Rochfords. Thought I visited most of the London and Home Counties lightweight shops but can't ever remmember Barry Chick's. Did he have one?

Thats all for now. Keep those wheels spinning, in your memories if not still on the road. Be lucky Mick Butler Huntingdon UK.
